As you may have noticed from the headlines we've moved and haven't had a moment to blog although we've taken lots of photographs. Now instead of living a stone's throw from the beach we're surrounded by apple trees. Mortimer has experienced quite a disruption over the past couple of weeks but has settled in very well.
What do you mean you've packed my bones?! |
First there was the packing up of the old house which he wasn't keen on. He was very good on the 3 hour car journey here, sitting up occasionally when he could smell something new. What he did love when he got here was grass - couldn't get enough of it!
He preferred the unpacking to packing as lots of tissue paper and bubble wrap was strewn about and could be played with but eventually even he couldn't take anymore excitement. His blanket and Big Ted a little oasis in the chaos.
Exhausted |
His new daily walk is in the orchard that backs on to the house. When we arrived the blossom was still out and the bee hives were sited to take full advantage. Mortimer was intrigued but not overly brave. Now the blossom has finished the hives have been removed to go to a new food source.
Is there food in here? |
Mortimer discovered that the countryside is full of very strange things, deciding that funghi could be particularly threatening!
I'll protect you! |
A much more exciting discovery was ground level barbecues. The kitchen has no real cooking facilities at the moment - we're living off a microwave - and the big barbecue is at the back of the garage somewhere so the disposable ones are the best option. Mortimer volunteered for the role of Guardian of the Sausages, hoping I think to be paid in kind!
I think I'd better taste them for you |
The orchard across the lane is nearest one to the village and a very popular dog walking spot. Mortimer has met several friendly dogs but none more so than the three trainee guide dogs who he has now met twice. They are all about his age and come into the orchard for play time. Dog heaven as far as Mortimer is concerned!
Group hug! |
Sure I saw a rabbit this way |
P.S If anyone has any good microwave recipes -let me know!
