Seaside treat

My parents, who stayed with us over Christmas, decided it would be a good idea to visit the beach to blow the cobwebs away. It only takes 45 minutes to the nearest seaside town but, worried about the availability of refreshments on Boxing Day, they packed a flask, sandwiches and a few mince pies.

Now Mortimer, who spent his first few months with us living on the coast, gets ecstatic when he sees the sea, even if it is freezing.

It's the sea - let me at it

Promise I won't run off
He is so gullible.....
Now as you might have gathered from the photographs it was very cold with a north westerly wind blowing, so sandwiches on the beach were out. But for Mortimer the alternative, picnic in the car, was a new and very pleasurable experience.

I'm sure that ham sandwich could get a bit nearer

He can't wait to do that again.
