Some of the apples didn't get picked this year, I've no idea why. Us villagers are allowed to help ourselves once the official harvest is over but it looked like this year we got apple overload!
As they've stayed on the trees their colour has intensified and with the low winter sun they positively glow.

The starlings however are benefitting from this largesse, huge numbers of them swirl out of the trees when we walk past and sit on the overhead cables waiting for us to leave.
